Reflecting on our inquiry

So far, we have explored change by looking at the question "How can we change our world using our imagination?" which has sparked many different explorations. The children reflected on how they have explored the question so far. Some of their reflections are below. We are now wanting to go beyond our own knowledge and research "How do others change the world with their imagination?". We will be sending home some questions for parents that the children came up with and we are starting to, through our reviews, look at authors, musicians, film makers and artists to find out what inspires us.

Science Wonderings!

After Hilary brought in some left over party balloons, the children had some wonderings about them. Through science workshops with Maddy, the children have been looking at how things change state (gas, solids and liquids).

PMP Parent Helpers

We are continuing to run the Perceptual Motor Program (PMP) on Wednesdays in the gym from 9.15 to 10.15. The children gain a lot from this program and it is essential that we have parent help. It is a fun morning where you get to know the Neighbourhood.

If you are interested in coming in to help out with a station, please pop your name on the helper form outside the learning commons.

Kind regards,

The Prep Team

African Drumming!

This week the preps were excited to take part in a special African Drumming experience. The experienced musician from 'African Beat' brought the sounds of Ghana to the Princes Hill gym, where both teachers and students were invited to play a range of drums. It was both an exciting and culturally educational experience for all involved and created a great sense of positive energy when all participants were drumming and bouncing to the deep rhythms and beat.

If you would like more information on 'African Beat' you can visit their website

Premier's Reading Challenge

Apologies to parents who have tried to log in to their reading account as there has been some technical difficulties with passwords. I have reset the passwords and new login details will be going home tonight. Thank you, Hilary.

Welcome Back Preps!

The preps have started Term 3 with a bang! They were all full of excitement and were eager to share their stories from the holidays. In learning agreement time, the preps have been focusing on creating reviews to add to the prep newspaper. Book Reviews, Film Reviews, Travel Reviews (about where they went on holiday) and even Music Reviews are happening around the neighbourhood.

With our future Book Week celebration in mind, students will be able to bring in a book for they turn in Show and Tell. They can review it by telling their friends what it is about, what they like about it and give it a rating out of 10 stars.
