We met Fire Fighters

Today the Prep Neighbourhood was visited by Fire-fighter Kent, Fire-fighter Simon and Fire-fighter Peter who spoke to the children about fire safety. Fire-fighter Kent dressed up in all the fire fighter gear which included a mask attached to an oxygen tank, walkie talkie, a torch, helmet and the yellow fire protective pants and jacket with light reflective strips.

We learnt about 'good fires' and 'bad fires' and how to 'crawl down low and go, go, go' to escape a fire. We also learnt about how to find a safe place to go in the case of a fire. A safe place could be a letter box, a street sign, a street lamp or a tree. The children will be asking their parents tonight where is their families 'safe meeting place'. The fire-fighters will be back next week to show us the fire truck.
